In the backyard of our cottage we have this huge pile of wood: tree stumps and branches that have been collected over the past couple of years from trees that have fallen or had to be taken down. We are so excited because we’ve found a portable sawmill service (didn’t even know they existed before!) that will be coming to chop and slice up all those big pieces of lumber within the next few weeks.
While we have some fun ideas for them that we’ll be sharing with you in the coming months, we’ve also seen some great wood slice projects lately. Here are five of our favourites.
Did you know that you can create your own image transfers by printing from an inkjet printer onto wax paper? This is something we will definitely do soon and the idea of transferring any image onto wood coins is great. With the summer coming to an end we love this idea from Tidbits of using a floral design to have some flowers to look at in the winter.
Often your wood slice will not need any embellishments and can be used as a centerpiece on its own. A naturally beautiful slice of wood is used as a riser in this welcoming fall vignette by Virginia at Fynes Designs.
Well, after finding all these great projects we are even more excited for the slicing to begin! What are some of your favourite wood slice projects?
