I really enjoyed making these lovely knitted eggs just in time for Easter. I knit six eggs so that I could use them as a centrepiece on my coffee table.

The best part of this craft was that I was able to use various leftover yarn from other knitting projects. You could also buy yarn ends from knitting shops at discounted prices. Either way, you end up with beautiful, inexpensive (and unbreakable) Easter decor!

What You’ll Need to Make One Knitted Egg:

How to Knit Easter Eggs:

CO 12: distribute stitches evenly over 4 needles (3 stitches each needle).

Join for working in the round. Be careful not to twist the stitches. Place marker for beginning of each round (if desired).

Round 1: Knit

Round 2: [K1-f/b, knit across to last stitch on needle, K1-f/b] 4 times (20 stitches)

Round 3: Knit

Round 4: [K1-f/b, knit across to last stitch on needle, K1-f/b] 4 times (28 stitches)

Round 5-15: Knit

Round 16: [Skp, knit across to last 2 stitches on needle, k2tog] 4 times (20 stitches)

Round 17: Knit

Round 18: [Skp, knit across to last 2 stitches on needle, k2tog] 4 times (12 stitches)

Round 19: Knit

Round 20: [Skp, K1] 4 times (8 stitches)

Cut yarn, leaving 10” tail. Thread tail onto yarn needle and slip through remaining stitches.

Turn egg inside out and gently pull needle so opening at top of egg closes. Weave in end securely on wrong side.

Turn egg right side out. Stuff egg with batting through bottom opening.

Thread CO yarn tail onto yarn needle and close bottom opening.

Repeat these instructions to create as many eggs as you want.

These knitted eggs would look adorable nestled among some Easter bunnies. We should have put them out on Sonja’s Easter mantel
